As we begin our fourth year of operation, we have been specializing in the training of mustangs and educating people on how to work and train mustangs or improve their horse skills. In March of 2020, we received 15 mustangs from the U.S. Forrest Service in Alturas, CA., otherwise known as Devil's Garden Mustangs. We launched our first ever Wild2Ride Academy here at Montana Reins of Hope and we trained students how to gentle and train a mustang.
As part of our commitment toward offering Equine Assisted Learning, we partnered with the Missoula YMCA to offer an Equine Youth Leadership camp, where we were able to create experiences, through horses and the story of the American Mustang, to help youth learn leadership and life skills.
We are an Equine Education facility. We believe the best way to ensure a high-quality life for a horse is to provide high quality foundation and education for the owners, riders, future horse trainers, or for anyone who wants to learn more about horses. Each year thousands of horses, particularly mustangs, are surrendered or re-homed because their well-meaning owners are not equipped to handle them. We want to empower more people to take an active role in the care and training of the horse. We can help prevent cruelty and neglect. We can make this world a better place for horses and humans through quality equine education programs that focus on building relationships with horses on the foundation of trust.
Our long-term vision is to develop the infrastructure that supports land and stable management based on ecologically sound practices and natural horse-keeping practices.
